I buzzed R2's hair a couple of days ago. Another rite of motherhood passed. He looks cute... and fuzzy.

I don't really have any heart to post knowing what everyone is going through in Texas... so please, if you know of people who have lost homes or are in need, share info here so we can help each other.

  1. re-posting this from Tammy

I keep reading through here to see if anyone has commented about my mom and dad loosing their house. But nothings on here. Also, Richy's dad's best friend died of a heart attack in his sleep over the weekend. He has lost his best friend. If you are willing to pray for those that are in need, please pray for my elderly parents and my brother. I know you can get through to them because you have been able to talk to Bobby and Steph. Dad's cell is 936.203.1085 his name is Buddy. My brother's name is Lynn and his cell number is 281.748.5676. Visitation for his friend Jim is Thursday from 5-8:00pm. (I'm not sure just where yet)and the funeral is on Friday sometime. I only tell you this because I believe in specific prayers and timely praying. Jim's daughter just had a new baby girl. I think she's 5 months. My parents mailing address (if you want to send encouraging cards or notes) is Buddy & Ruby Clark - 115 Magnolia Lane, Conroe, TX 77304. I don't have Lynn's address with me. But you can send cards and notes to me and I'll make sure he gets them. Tammy Clark P.O. Box 1771 Conroe, TX 77305. Thank you so much and everyone please stay safe and continue to pray for all the folks that are in even more of a devestated state than we are.

  8. Ok, we have electrics! Yippee!!! We had a "Hallelujah Service" in the kitchen about an hour ago.

When the rain let up on Saturday morning & we could get outside to see what our little part of the world looked like . . . we were surprised. Looked as if a bombed had been dropped.

I live in a heavily wooded subdivision in Conroe & trees were everywhere. Even on our roof! But this huge oak on our roof is over the garage on the ridge and it appears no damage has been done! It's a miracle. We are now looking for someone to come remove that tree plus a few other oaks. We also lost a fence, but that's it! We have nothing to complain about at all. We also had use of a small generator which kept the frige going and other small appliances.

The best thing about this (if there is a "best" about it at all) is that a cool front blew in right after Ike. The temps were in the upper 50's over night & the low 80's during the day. Also we had very low humidity. Now that's what I call a miracle!

I know there was mass destruction in Galveston and along the coast. It's bad; the worst since the 1900storm. So continue to pray.

I spoke to Larry this evening before the power came on & he said all is well. I guess I'll know more on Sunday.

    Thanks for the prayers!

  9. My parents have spent the last two days moving all their belongings. There are staying down here in The Woodlands for now. They plan to stay at the church for a few months after the power gets turned back on. They are turning my dads office into their bedroom.

You guys please pray that something will open up for them. They really loved where they lived. And it was cheap rent. They really don't have any idea where they are going to go. So please pray for wisdom.

  10. On another note for those of you who have Sam Houston Electric you can expect to possibly be without power a little longer. Those predicted dates are for entergy customers. My dad talked to a manager of sorts today who was out surveying the damage near the church. He said there major power plant is in Beumont and would be down for several months. But they are getting all the lines ready. Maybe they will temporarily buy there power from somewhere else. That is what Entergy is doing.

  11. Has anyone heard the story about the pet Tiger loose on Port Boliver? They have been throwing it MRE's till they figure out what to do.

  12. i saw the news report about the "large cat". It's a lioness. turns out the church where it is "living" on the bolivar also had some kind of zoo and the lion was coaxed into the sanctuary to keep it from roaming around randomly. There are signs all over the building "do not open this door; lion inside".

  14. G checking in here. Am at full power and internet now! Whew, It was scary and stinky, we didn't even have water or phone for a lot of days. Being in the dark and without communication was an exercise in what Layla called the fragileness of civilization. We are all fine. Much of the city is still in the dark.

    Love
    G
