Not a prizewinning title

For anybody who's following American Idol.... David Cook rocked it last night. It was one of those shows where you keep waiting for someone to be amazing, and then he was. I liked a few others too... some are adorable but certain members of my household don't want to hear about him that anymore, so that's all I'm sayin.

I'm in a cooking slump. I love food. A lot. And I love the finished product.. but the making of the food and the ghastly horrible washing of the dishes... they detract from the pure beauty of the foods themselves. That being said, I have potatoes that are going to start sprouting eyes soon, I need to cook them. And maybe you're all earthy and you don't mind. Just cut the sprouts off! you say. Uh. No. That's GROSS. I did find a trick for preserving potattie freshness. You put an apple in the bag. They last like 3 times as long. So now you see how long I have made these potatoes wait to be a tasty meal. Potato chowder. That's the plan. And pot roast, tomorrow maybe. Once it's made I will glory in the fact that it's good, and that I made it. But right now it just seems like a lot of work.

Tonight, as far as I know, Richy's small group is going back to the original host home. I'll miss seeing everyone, but I don't have to clean the bathroom. So that's a plus.

That's all I got today. Chat.

  2. A young couple got married & went on a cruise for their honeymoon. When they got back from the honeymoon, the bride immediately called her mother, who lived a couple of hours away.

'Well, darling,' said her mom, 'how was the honeymoon?'

'Oh, mother,' she replied, 'the honeymoon was wonderful! So romantic, we had a terrific time! But, mother, as soon as we returned, Sam began using really horrible language... Stuff I'd never heard before... Really terrible 4-letter words... You've got to come get me and take me home. PLEASE MOTHER!'

And the new bride began to sob over the telephone.

But honey,' the mother countered, 'WHAT 4-letter words?'

'I can't tell you, mother,' said the daughter, 'they're too awful! COME GET ME, PLEASE!'

'Darling daughter, you must tell me what has you so upset... Tell mother the 4-letter words!'

Still sobbing, the bride said, 'Mother....words like: DUST...WASH......IRON....COOK

  3. I just finished an interview for a different position at Boeing. The interview went well. They will be deciding and making offers early next week, and I think I have a good chance. It would be a promotion and good enough increase in pay to where we would be looking at houses to buy. The only issue is that I would be working in Seattle, so we would probably move south of Seattle (currently live north) when our lease is up July 31. Until then I would have a long commute due to traffic or work earlier to avoid traffic.

  4. Now, a bold predication on mr. slim. Drum role, please……

I think it could be…. Jessica. Yep.

1)She has been under the “Eye of the Tiger”
2)Has been on long church van trips
    3)Likes chicken Mexican food
4)Is young enough to get pimples often still- and could hit the mirror
5)Is smart enough to write like a male to throw us off
6)Already has a split personality disorder--- Smartypants—and could have slim also
7)Could’ve just been joking about the “not wearing undies” bit

So Jess, or mr. slim, am I right? OUT WITH IT!!

  6. No. And I wouldn't use INTELLIGENCE as a real deciding factor on Slim's identity. Just a hunch.

  7. Mamapc

What do you think about the possiblity of it being Jeremiah?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Crystal,

Who do you think Mr Slim is?

    ReplyDelete
  9. G- It was a slight possibility, ok VERY slight, but she fit the bill somewhat.

Jess- I was using intelligence to describe you, not slim. "You are smart enough..."

  13. Hey Jess. when the house is totally clean and the creative juices r flowing...........DOUBLE cook and freeze half of it .. If you do this every time you really feel like cooking-----then in about a year------you will have 2 or 3 dinners in the freezer and you can give yourself a break on a night or two!

  21. maybe G is the trickster mr slim

    ReplyDelete
  22. maybe r1 is slim
    maybe jess
    maybe rob
    maybe the grim reaper

  23. My guess list:

    1-Rob
    2-Randy Diaz
    3-Josh
    4-Richy

Remember--Mr. Slim has been under the "Eye of the Tiger," ie, he/she has attended (maybe graduated) Conroe High School, and has also been on multiple church trips, most likely in the 90's, as he/she admitted to singing along with dc talk ballads -and Supertones songs, both of which bands faded in/out during the 1990's....To me, this person sounds like an old Network Drama Team guy, or someone who was afilliated with Radiant WAY back in their early days...Slim, am I wrong in these assumptions...

  24. She stays pretty still. I have been trying to call you Beth. Call me.

As for me being Mr Slim.
I didn't go to Conroe High
I have never been in a van with 15 teenagers singing at the top or their lungs dc talk songs( Thank God)( I would have to be locked up after that)
    Don't have pimples
    and I wear underwear

    ALWAYS
    G

  25. thank God for small favors
so glad to know G wears panties
