So Huck is out. I was just waiting yesterday... knew it would be a miracle, but uh.... I believe in miracles. So now he's out and here we go. I don't see any way McCain is going to win this thing. So who would be worse, Clinton or Obama? Heck if I know.

Last week, Rush encouraged listeners in primary states to switch parties and vote Hillary in yesterday's primaries. His logic was to keep the chaos alive on the Democratic side for a few more months. And, whaddya know... Hillary comes out of her slump and wins big last night. Did Rush affect the process? Who knows... but I heard him say that in Texas, 35% of Republicans did not vote Republican. That is huge! And pretty funny to me. I mean, if I spoke to 22 million people a week, I'd be tempted to jack with the process myself.
funny stuff.

So we have our nominee, who I am not voting for, and the battle rages on the Left. The semi-feminist in me rebels against this thought, but... I don't know if I like the idea of a female president. Well... maybe Condi, or somebody who doesn't come across as emotional. But yer basic female ... makes me a little nervous. More on that after I think about it some more.

In other news, the onslaught continues. They have normal appetites and behaviors and diapers all day. But they wake up from naps and in the morning with the stench of hell and so on.

Prince Harry fights in Afghanistan. This story broke yesterday on Drudge Report. If you don't know Drudge, he's a maverick in the news business... he runs that site, and he has the news consistently before anyone else. He became famous for breaking the Lewinsky/Clinton story back in the day.

Anyway, the synopsis of this Harry story is, Prince Harry (Diana's younger son) joined the army last year... maybe 2 years ago, I'm not sure. And he wanted to go and fight in the war. But they wouldn't let him go to Iraq because he's 3rd in line for the throne and it was too much of a security risk.

Then, about 3 months ago, he is deployed and secretly goes to fight on the front lines in Afgahnistan. And get this- the government over there made a deal to keep it hush-hush. Their reporters have known about this and did not tell. Also, the men that he's fighting beside did not leak the news. Amazing. I can't believe they got that kind of cooperation from the media. Of course, the minute the American press heard about it, it was international news.

Part of me is annoyed with Drudge for breaking the story, because now Harry has to stop being a regular guy and go back to the palace and the constant scrutiny. On the other hand, somebody was going to report this, and Drudge makes a career of knowing before anyone else.

Then there's an element of why did Harry have to go over there when he puts everyone around him in danger just by virtue of being such a large target? He has expressed frustration with the royal life, and he just wants to be able to live normally. But is there an obligation by being royal to be responsible? I don't know.

And then I feel sorry for him, because he is not able to do what he wants to with his life, and now he has to come home because his cover's been blown.

Oh, and evidently he was an awesome soldier. Led 3 missions and whatnot. Di's boys are already international heartthrobs... this makes Harry even more so.

Anyway, it's very interesting.

>>Link>> This is NOT good news.

In other news, my inner healing class was really good last night. I don't know how much traditional inner healing I need. I mean, I wasn't abused by anyone, and my parents were great. My wounds are all from my life imploding as an adult... people were dropping like flies for a while in my early 20's. So that's where I got most jacked up.

But anyhoo, last night was all about Father Wounding, which is, you know, how your dad wounded you and screwed up your life by being such a loser in your childhood. And a lot of people had bad dads, so I know that pain is valid. I just think I've been through the issues of my own heart enough that I'm pretty cautious about throwing stones. And that's kind of what this class is, throwing stones and hitting your pillow and letting it all out. Like I said, valid. But uh, a little elementary. Not that I've arrived. I've just had excellent training in my family and through MCF, and I like that kind of personal accountability better.

So anyways, last night I realized that my dad was a great dad. No real complaints. He was far from a perfect person, but a good dad. But still, there's this disconnect between me and God as a father. So that's where I was last night. Dealing with my disappointment with God, and releasing Him from that... (for my sake) and just trying to open myself up to love Him and trust Him again. And I wept copiously, although not as loudly as the small group next door who were hitting things (not really) and gasping and groaning and WHY-ing and so on. It's not funny, it's good they are getting healed.
But it is a little funny.

This is a clip from Saturday Night Live... holier folk than I will deny ever watching this show. But when Huckabee makes headlines for a skit, you better believe I be hittin the Youtube. So there you go.

Somebody... probably Snarky Anonimi asked me the other day about Huck. Here's the deal. It is not outside the realm of possibilty for God to put this guy in office. It is, however, unlikely. I still like him a lot and I understand why he is still in the race. Far too many conservatives are just not happy with McCain and he is presenting an alternative. Power to him. If McCain gets the official nomination in a couple of months, then Huck will quit campaigning. I wish he could win. But you know, regardless, I like the guy and I think he is VERY funny.

So my political plan, because I know you're dying to hear, is to brush up on all the other offices. And vote for as many pro-life, conservative candidates as I can for all the other offices. And possibly leave my ballot blank for Prez. That's the current plan.

Fidel Castro has resigned. Or, is he dead? Time might tell. Maybe him and Osama have a nice cabana somewhere... or not.
His brother has taken the helm at the sprightly age of 76. No offense to my friends and family who have reached senior status, but uh, isn't that kind of old to start running a country? I'm just saying.
So Arafat and Hussein are gone, and probably Castro. These are historical days... I guess all days are historical, but these old-timers kicking the bucket is big news.
Who knows what the world will look like in 10 years... people I went to high school with will be eligible to run for President. Yikes. May God have mercy on our souls.

In other news, no news. Just chillin in the house with the wee folk, toying with productivity. Trying to get motivated to start dinner... but the MOG is fasting and the young gents would like pbjs as much or better than beef stroganoff. And so I blog.

In the news: Romney has suspended his campaign. This is a surprise to me. As far as what's going to happen now, who knows. It looks like McCain will take the nomination and maybe take Huck on as a VP. Still not voting for him. I wish Rush would run but he says he can't take the pay cut.

I'm awfully boring today. I've tried to blog on a couple of topics, and it's like, zzzzzzzz.....

Uh, how about this.... assuming that Valentine's Day is a woman's holiday. (I know not everyone assumes that, but enough do) So, making that assumption, what would be a good holiday for guys? SuperBowl maybe...

I came in here all raring to start a Smartypants paragraph... when it occurs to me... today is THURSDAY.
That kinda day, folks.

This is why you can't trust dogs. I've said it a million times... well, I'm saying it now.

Iowa man recovering after being shot by his dog

DES MOINES (AP) — A hunter is recovering after he was shot in the leg at close range by his dog, who stepped on his shotgun and tripped the trigger, an official said Tuesday.
James Harris, 37, of Tama, was hit in the calf Saturday, the opening day of pheasant season, said Alan Foster, a spokesman with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

"He had surgery and is doing pretty well," he said. "He took between 100-120 pellets in about a 4-inch circle to his calf."

Harris was listed in good condition Tuesday, officials at University Hospitals in Iowa City said.

Harris was hunting with a group about three miles north of Grinnell. The group shot a bird, and when Harris went to get it, he put his gun on the ground and crossed a fence. As he crossed the fence, his hunting dog stepped on the gun, Foster said.

The gun was about 3 feet away from his leg.

"The muzzle velocity is so great that the pellets don't have a chance to spread out," he said.

No one else was hurt, and the dog was not injured.

Foster said no citations have been issued.

If this story had been about a cat, I would believe it was intentional.

Sorry this entry is so late... we had a busy day and I forgot to post, and then there were no new comments when I got home at 2ish, so I just lazed about (blog-wise) until now. The following BREAKING NEWS story was brought to my attention today by the brilliant and ever so humble Rush Limbaugh, and then again by the brilliant and ever so humble Josharoo.

You think it can't happen to you? So did these guys.

Danger: Beware of Falling Cows

MANSON, Wash. (AP) - Charles and Linda Everson were driving back to their hotel when their minivan was struck by a falling object—a 600-pound cow.
The Eversons were unhurt but the cow, which had fallen off a cliff, had to be euthanized.

The year-old cow fell about 200 feet from the cliff and landed on the hood of the couple's minivan, causing heavy damage.

A Chelan County fire chief, Arnold Baker, said the couple missed being killed by a matter of inches in the accident Sunday on a highway near Manson.

The Eversons, visiting the area from their home in Westland, Mich., to celebrate their first wedding anniversary, were checked at Lake Chelan Community Hospital as a precaution.

Everson, 49, said he didn't see the cow falling and didn't know what happened until afterward.

He said he kept repeating: "I don't believe this. I don't believe this."

In other news, it is GORGEOUS here today. I took these stir-crazy munchkins to the park. Pix tomorrow!

Man's Pants Catch Fire At Airport

POSTED: 5:04 pm EDT October 4, 2007
UPDATED: 6:53 pm EDT October 4, 2007

ATLANTA -- The new iPod Nano is hot. But one Douglasville man said his old Nano got even hotter -- hot enough to burst into flames.
“So I look down and I see flames coming up to my chest,” said Danny Williams.
Williams said the burn hole from the pocket of his pants marks the spot of his 15 seconds of flame. He said he had an iPod Nano and an glossy piece of paper in his pocket. He believes the paper shielded him from being burned.
“I’m still kind of freaked out that after only a year and a half my iPod caught fire in my pocket,” said Williams.
The iPod uses a lithium ion battery -- the same type of battery under recall for setting laptops on fire.
Williams said the fact is iPod Nano burst into flames while he was at work was bad enough, where he works could have been another issue. He works at a kiosk in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
“If TSA had come by and seen me smoking, they could have honestly thought I was a terrorist,” said Williams.
Williams said Apple wants him to send his iPod back and they’ve vowed to replace it. Williams’ mother called Channel 2 because she said this is more than one iPod. She said it’s about what could have happened.
“It could have happened when we were sleeping, it could have happened when he was driving and the outcome could have been much worse,” said Elaine Williams.
After Channel 2 sent Apple pictures of the iPod, they called back but they refused to say how common the problem is. In fact, Apple refused to talk about this particular incident at all.

I can't believe Apple didn't want to talk about it... there is so much to talk about.

Let's begin with the "money" elements. That is the words "pants" and "fire". I'm already laughing. Then you have to put all the pieces together....
What material were these highly flammable pants? Polyester, no doubt.
And what was the "glossy paper" referenced in the article.... the paper that saved Danny's life?? Pokemon, anyone?

(pause to laugh at my deductions)

And then, beautiful. Who calls in the story? Danny's mother. Because Danny's pants caught fire at middle school. Oh, wait....

I just have such a great image of the whole scenario. And maybe I'm totally wrong. But I don't think so.

Get yer questions in for Ms. Smartypants!! Ask em while they're hot!

Late blogging today... we went to Lowes and Walmart this morning.... good trips, no stress. EXCEPT.....
I have to touch up the walls around here. We have a HUGE deposit I hope we can get back- but I have to patch in all the nail holes and paint. Of course, the paint the builders used is not carried in chain stores. But I can drive down to 2920 and pick some up. With my 3 KIDS,
Maybe this weekend. Besides, I have my hands full trying to get spray-paint off our brick entryway- which I inadvertently tagged in an imprudent spray paint touchup job. So there you go.
Not interesting. Not even to me.

Now, this is interesting.

Nepal Airlines performs goat sacrifice
4 Sep 2007, 2153 hrs IST,REUTERS

KATHMANDU: Officials at Nepal's state-run airline have sacrificed two goats to appease Akash Bhairab, the Hindu sky god, following technical problems with one of its Boeing 757 aircraft, the carrier said on Tuesday.

Nepal Airlines, which has two Boeing aircraft, has had to suspend some services in recent weeks due the problem. The goats were sacrificed in front of the troublesome aircraft on Sunday at Nepal's only international airport in Kathmandu in accordance with Hindu traditions, an official said.

"The snag in the plane has now been fixed and the aircraft has resumed its flights," said Raju KC, a senior airline official, without explaining what the problem had been. Local media last week blamed the company's woes on an electrical fault. The carrier runs international flights to five cities in Asia. It is common in Nepal to sacrifice animals like goats and buffaloes to appease different Hindu deities.
